How Do You Know A Kitten Has A Cold And Not An Infection?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

Your vet will be able to narrow down the possibility's after exam and talking to you a bit. Approx. 50% of URI's presented are actually herpes virus infection which need's treatment so that's a concern. Also a possibility of FIP or other disease. Feline distemper would also be a possibility. As far as just a 'cold' goes, they are self limiting but antibiotic's are generally prescribed to help prevent secondary infection. There's no way to know without seeing a vet.
