Most people who's families immigrated to the us have probably had their name changed in one way or another.  I know that my last name was changed when my family moved here but it was a great great great grandfather who brought his wife and daughter.. So my great great grandmother had the name and lost it when she married and had my line of the family.  No idea what the name meant though cause it was some German last name that had letters changed when they came here..

I think I got the amount of great's right :P

My family's original name was "Gregorio", but when my grandparents came to this country, they wanted to be more "American" so changed it to "Grego"...many times I"ve had to tell people it's not 'Greco".!!!
