Marian Keyes is an Irish author. She was born in the West of Ireland in 1963 but was brought up in Dublin before she moved to London when she was in her twenties. Following a drink problem and a spell in rehab, Marian Keyes began writing short stories and sent them off to a publisher.
She was offered a three book contract and wrote her first book 'Watermelon'. She has since written 'Lucy Sullivan is Getting Married', 'Sushi for Beginners', 'Rachel's Holiday', 'Last Chance Saloon', 'The Other Side of the Story', 'Angels' and 'Anybody Out There?' and has sold over 10 million copies of her novels all over the world.
She has also enjoyed some success on television with 'Lucy Sullivan is Getting Married' being adapted for television featuring Letician Dean as the part of Karen. 'Watermelon' was also later adapted and Anna Friel took the lead as Claire.
Marian Keyes is occasionally seen on 'Big Brother's Little Brother' where she displays her wit and excellent sense of humour.
