A sling is used to carry a baby in a secure way close to the body of a person. It consists of a piece of cloth that is wrapped around the adult and fastened in such a way that it forms a pouch for securely carrying a young one. The sling has to be passed through ones left hand and head such that the ring end rests on the right shoulder and the other end on the left hip. The sling has to be spread over the back and shoulder and tightened in those areas. The sack to carry the baby should form in the front. The sling can be used to carry the baby in different positions including the cradle hold, the kangaroo carry, and the vertical position, the back carry, front carry and the hip carry as well.

You must first thread the sling. Always unfold the sling before threading it as it will be easier to adjust the sling. Next hold the ring with your right hand and ensure that the tail is directly above the loop. Now put your left arm through the loop while holding it with your right hand and put the sling over your head. The ring should rest gently slightly in front of your right shoulder. Now open the pouch and put your baby inside. While you support the baby's head with your left hand pull on the tail with your right hand to tighten it.
