Can I Visit The Parliament Of Canada If I Am Not A Canadian Citizen?

Answer Question

Anyone may visit the Parliament of Canada, as part of a group tour, regardless of nationality. Best of all, these guided tours are entirely free of charge.

The best way to sign up for a tour is to present yourself at the Visitors' Centre on Parliament Hill where bilingual (English-French) tour guides will greet you and inform you of when there are available tours on that given day. If you find a convenient time slot, you and everyone accompanying you will be given a card, which you must present at the time of your guided tour.

All visitors are then required to pass through security. This is a very similar process to the type of security you would expect at any major airport. You will be asked to walk through a metal detector and if it rings, you will also be searched by a security guard. The guards may also ask that you turn on your cell phone or any lap top computers for them.

Once you have passed through security, your guided tour will begin. Each tour lasts approximately 45 minutes.
