One can easily install a ratchet strap. The first step would be to use a 3/16th inch long allen wrench. Get rid off the white block from the end which is attached to the ratchet straps. Now you will have to attach the adapter straps to the other end on the ratchet strap. Make sure that you are not removing and disturbing the washer of the strap which is at the end of the ratchet strap.
Now the next step would be remove the seat bolts from the boat. Insert the adapter in such a way that it is placed between the upper part of the seat and also on the inner side of the boat. There are two grommets present with the adapter strap. Choose the one which can be placed under your seat and also the one which is more comfortable. Once you have tightened the seat bolt, you will also have the ratchet strap installed properly.
