The Sword of Shannara is the name of the first fantasy novel written by Terry Brooks. It is the first book of the series which is entitled The Original Shannara Trilogy. He wrote a series of books entitled Shannara, of which this book was the first to be published.
It was first published by Random House in New York in the month of January in the year 1977. The Sword of Shannara was also the first fantasy novel to come into view (and top) the New York Times list of best sellers. A paperback edition of the book was reissued in the year 1995 by a publishing house called Del Rey Books, which is also located in New York.
The story is about the adventures of two foster brothers, Shea and Flick Ohmsford, against the Dark Warlord.
