Why Is It When You Owe The Government Money They Want It Right Now?

When you are owed money when do you want it? Usually when the government comes after someone for money that is owed it is two to three years after it should have been paid to them. The government needs the money just like anyone else as it cost money for police, teachers, firemen, garbage collection, water, electricity and the list goes on and on. The government also knows that the longer time that lapses between when the money should have been paid and when it is collected has a direct relationship on the overall collect-ability of the amount owed as it was needed when the debt arose just as your money is needed by you when you need it. It isn't a pretty topic but realistically it is no different. If the government only paid the firemen when they collected that money budgeted for them or the military when that money was collected could you realistically expect that these departments would be there when you needed them? If you work for the government you get paid when pay-day comes. When you are requesting tax refunds then the government like anyone else needs to be reasonably assured that you in fact are due the money as tax-fraud is a very real issue and if the refund is later determined to be not legitimate the repayment is back into the collection issue!
