    Water does not contain carbon dioxide. Its just Hydrogen and Oxygen.

      Steel nails will not rust, or oxidize - but Iron nails will.

      Iron (Fe) will react with the oxygen in the water  and create Fe2O3 or Iron(III) Oxide.  The scientific name for Rust.
