Too much oil will result in the engine being sluggish or it can be thrown out and cause leaks. It really depends on how much over full it is.

If you think it's too full just drain some out oil and do it as soon as you can. Like bwtsrl said, it depends how much is in there.

It can also improve performance of an engine increasing compression ratio by just a little by pouring in extra oil, but that performance hit may only last for 300-500 miles and then fall.

Your front and rear crankshaft seal will leak.Drain the excess oil fast because once you have the leak it doesn't go away. You will start using more oil and leave a nice spot of oil on the ground. Never l repeat again never ever over full your engine and your transmission.
