Why Does The Subject Of Slaves Always Come Up?

I notice if a black man, woman or child aspires to do great things in or for the world, it always resorts back to slavery? Blacks should not be ashamed nor afraid as they did not enslave themselves, I find intelligent and good people of all races.

Sometimes people use the slavery issue to demonstrate a point, a point about oppression and inequality, and the slave trade in the United States was certainly one of humanities' darkest hours.  With an oppressive event like that in their past, one could only speculate how much better they might be if that had never happened.  And other races have also been slaves, not just blacks.  For example, the Israelites were slaves.  According to Wikipedia, forms of slavery still exist in some parts of the world.  (see en.wikipedia.org
And the harsh economic realities make a lot of people "economic slaves,"  living just to make a paycheck and pay bills.

Everybody should have ample opportunity to be whatever they can become.  Access to good public education, public libraries, training programs and the Internet helps people build skills and help people live fuller, richer lives. Martin Luther King had a dream, and we should all see that it becomes a reality.

Blacks weren't the only slaves, and there own people sold them to the settlers... That being said I traced back my family history and we didn't own slaves so that oh woe is me crap doesn't work.
