How Can I Tell If My Painted Turtle Is A Male Or Female?
My friend and i want to breed our turtles
Answers
One way to distinguish male turtles from female turtles is by looking at the shape of the bottom shell. A convex shape indicates that it is female while a concave shape indicates that it is female. The tail can also be used to tell the sex, and in this case male turtles possess fatter and longer tails than the females.

Look at the front claws. If they are pretty long, it's more than likely a boy. If they look like little pointy nubs coming out of the foot, it's a girl. But no matter what you do, there is always a chance of being wrong. Reptiles are really hard to tell the genders.
