What Is The Stimulant Found In Tea And Coffee?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

The stimulant found in tea and coffee is caffeine. Caffeine is fine if you are only taking small amounts of it (between 150 and 250mg per day, but it does have several side effects ranging from hyperactivity to drowsiness and fatigue. A certain level of caffeine can help a person perform manual and mental tasks better, but only for a shot time. Larger doses can sometimes impair their performance and also increase their levels of anxiety and alertness. It can also increase the heart rate and the blood pressure and even hamper breathing.
If you drank roughly seven cups of instant coffee, it will have adverse effects on your body and you might have ringing in your ears or light flashes. High doses of caffeine can also promote nausea, muscle tremor and diarrhoea and will aggravate ulcers.
Although small amounts of tea of coffee (three to four cups a day) should not give you any problems, death from caffeine overdose is possible ~ bet you didn't know you could die from drinking a cup of tea! Don't panic though. It would take more than 100 cups of coffee a day for it to be fatal to you!
