How Many Miles Is The Gulf Stream?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

The Gulf Stream, along with its northern extension to Europe, called the North Atlantic Drift, is the name of a strong, warm and rapid Atlantic Ocean current which begins in the Gulf of Mexico and goes out through the Strait of Florida, following the eastern coastlines of the United States and Newfoundland before traversing the Atlantic Ocean. It then splits into two parts, with the northern stream traversing to northern Europe and the southern stream going towards West Africa.

The Gulf Stream is a major influencing factor in the climate of the east coast of North America from Florida all the way to Newfoundland, as well as the western coastline of the European continent.

The Gulf Stream is basically a current, not a single body of water. Hence it cannot be measured as it has no definitive starting or ending point.
