The Germans used several methods of delivering gas in WW1, initially they used large gas cylinders like the oxygen bottles you see today. they also use little gas hand grenades with a choking agent in them. later they progressed to delivering gas in artillery shells using chlorine, phosgene and mustard gas all nasty killers. some time later they also used gas in the Trench mortars in the front lines. Bombing in the usual meaning ie Bombing up the trench or a bombing party is the use of Hand Grenades being used in an attack or defense of a trench. GrenadeUK
