Doctors recommend drugs (tablets) for the benefit of the patients and these drugs rarely develop addiction. Some drugs if taken by the patient regularly may develop dependence. Doctors do alter the drugs after some period. Some patients keep taking the prescribed drugs without the knowledge of a doctor and get addicted to the use of these drugs. If a doctor notices such abuse of his prescription he is in a position to control his patients.

A physician should choose to be patient under these circumstances. He should first try to speak to this patient kindly and try to persuade him away from the use of these drugs. If he is unsuccessful in his attempt, he may try giving a placebo. Patient’s medicines should be replaced by fake pills. The patient feels he is on his usual drugs. This is certainly going to give positive results.
