Do Water Companies Use The Water From Rivers To Increase Their Reservoir Deposits?
I have observed water flow from reservoirs but I am unsure whether water companies pump back the river water they have previously discharged.
Answers
I am not sure what you are saying but I think you are asking if river water is returned to the river after use. I live in a Rivetown on the Ohio River. In Louisville, Ky.[across the river] boasts one of the best water systems in the country and yes they clean the water and return it to the river.

The water companies are different but in general they collect, sanitize, distribute and regulate the water supply for a population. Some water companies also my use the water flow to generate electricity, for farming and irrigation, urban parks, golf courses and related uses for the public good. Depending on where you live and the local water supply the water company may store water in aquifers or similar underground and above ground storage facilities to offset droughts and situation where the water supply faces a lack of supply for various reasons from natural to human caused situations. The water company will also clean and sanitize the waste water for a population removing the waste and sanitizing the water for reuse and reintegration into the natural environment. They also maintain the supply of water for the public and ensure that it is safe for drinking, washing clothes and dishes and other public use so as not to spread diseases that can become deadly from the use of waste water or in properly treated water for public consumption. Water companies are in most instance a monopoly and since this is an illegal form of organization they are regulated by Federal, State and Local governments to ensure that they among other reason are not profiting to greatly, excluding areas and people for various reasons and also to ensure that the standards set forth in law on the water and it's make-up are within the mandated guidelines set forth by the regulations passed and recognized by law.
