How Do I Find Out Which Literary Agent Is Suitable For My Book, Which Is Of The Fantasy Genre?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

The Writers' and Artists' Yearbook is the best place to look, as this has a listing of all UK and overeas literary agents, along with their details.

There will be a list of all the genres that each literary agent tackles. The Writers' and Artists' Yearbook is a good investement, as it saves the hassle of phoning the agent directly to see whether or not they handle books of the fantasy genre.

Aternatively, you can do some research on the internet and look at some literary agents' websites. They will tell you which genres they represent.

An entry in the Writers' and Artists' Yearbook may look like this:

"No scripts, horror, crime, science fiction, fantasy, poetry..."

So to this agent, you wouldn't submit your book.

Also think about the age group that your book is aimed at, because even if an agent did accept books of the fantasy genre, it doesn't mean that they will cover the particular age range that you have aimed yours at. Again, the Writers' and Artists' Yearbook will provide this information.
