When Must Employees In A Medical Office Be Trained In Privacy Policies And In What Manner?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

There is no law to my knowledge that mandates when that should happen.

I'll tell you this, though...if it is my medical office we are talking about, the answer would be "before the applicant is hired."  The manner of training would be in the form of a very short and very simple instruction:

"If you give to anyone any private information on any patient or fellow employee of this office, or if you yourself use anyone's private information for your own benefit,  I will show you the door and instruct you to use it immediately.  If your abuse of privacy is serious enough - and I make that decision - I will consider civil or criminal prosecution."

I would have that instruction written out on its own sheet of paper for signature by the applicant and myself, and put a copy in the applicant's file.

I hope you find this a satisfactory answer.

    Good luck to you.
