Lions do not live in the jungle in Africa. However they are found in India in the Gir forests. The term lions as kings of the jungle was obtained during the time they were plenty even found near the southern borders of Europe and northeast Africa. They were found in Persia, present Iraq!!! Just cause we decimated their population doesn't mean they have to lose their name.

No, this is a common misconception. Lions live in the savanna and grassland, although they can also be found in scrub lands and lightly forested areas.
