They ate honey cakes, squid stuffed with calf's brains seasoned with fennel, poor people ate porridge and bear. Rich people ate peahen's eggs, fruit and veg, pork, olive oil, bread, fish and meat, nuts and grain.

They ate apples, grapes, pears, plums, NEVER ORANGES!! NUTS: Almonds, filberts, hazelnuts and walnuts. DAIRY: Milk, Cream, Curds, Whey, Cheese (White Cheese only). They ate much more.
