Irthlingborough is a very small city that is located on the River Nene in Northamptonshire, England. It is considered as the smallest and a beautiful town of England. The most attractive feature of this town is 'The Parish Church'. The striking feature of the church is the lantern tower which is extraordinary for Northamptonshire churches. This unique structure was built to direct travelers across the Nene valley in foggy weather.

There is also a very interesting tunnel that was built between Irthlingborough and nearby Finedon. However, it does not exist since the Finedon end sealed with concrete and Irthlingborough end has been landscaped. The population of this place comprised of nearly 6,000 people. It is considered as the smallest city which consist of the league association football team, Rushden & Diamonds F.C..

As an Englishman who once lived in Irthligborough, I have to smile at its description as a 'city'. This is obviously a reference to the US definition of the word. In UK English we'd call it a small market town - little more than a village.
