There are no exact evidences that tell us the clear and obvious difference between these two species. Some facts shows that they are the same species but there are certain evidences that make one specie different from the other one. So, this is not so easy to get the accurate differences and distinctions between them. One major difference is the bone structure as the bones of the ferrets are smaller in size plus they are flimsy and frail but the bone structure of the Pole Cats exhibits different characteristics. Another difference is the color difference of these two species.

As far as their jaws are concerned, the jaws of the ferrets are not stronger as the Pole cat maintains. The color of the ear backs of these cats is darker than the color possessed by the ferrets. Pole cats have mesomorphic kind of structure that is stronger and muscular while the ferrets have tender and soft structure. These cats like solitary environments while the ferrets do not like to live in solitary places as they like companies. Their bred species are available as wild animals.
