What Type Of Machine Is A Wishing Well And Why? Is It A Simple Or Compound Machine?

Answer Question

A wishing well is a hole in the ground. It is not a machine at all.

The crank turning the drum winding the rope to the bucket of a wishing well may be considered a compound machine. If the crank handle radius is different than the drum radius, there is leverage involved. The drum could be considered a pully, of sorts. If the rope wraps in multiple layers, one might be able to argue for an inclined plane, as the mechanical advantage changes as you go along.
