    Kellinghusen basically is a town located in Kries Steinburg, Schleswig-Holstein. It has a total population of about 7950 according to the census conducted in the year 2005.

    It is positioned towards the northeast of Itzehoe and was much talked about in the 11th Century. The town gained prominence in the 18th century. The town has been around from the Charlemagne period, and was officially known as Kellinghusen around the year 1148.

    The people living in this region were mainly craftsmen, traders and manufactures. The large quantities of clay found in this area, was one of the main reasons for the start of faience factories.

    The Luftkurort Kellinghusen, which is a well known health resort, is based in the countryside region of Holstein; it also comprises of a 380 square feet nature park known as Aukrug. The hilly landscape of this park along with the excellent climate makes it quiet a popular destination with tourists.
