    John Ronald Reuel Tolkein is best known as the writer of the Lord of the Rings trilogy. He was born in the city of Bloemfontein in the province of Orange Free State in South Africa on January 3 in the year 1892. He died at the age of 81 years and 242 days in the city of Bournemouth (England) on September 2, 1973.

    William Cuthbert Faulkner was born in New Albany, Mississippi on September 25, 1897. He is known for such novels as The Sound and The Fury (1929), As I Lay Dying (1930) and Light in August (1932). He died in Byhala, Mississippi at the age of 64 years and 284 days on July 6, 1962.
