Hannah is a Biblical character. She finds mention in the Books of Samuel. As the story can be only taken at face value, she was supposedly the mother of Samuel. But most scholars of the Bible stress that the text actually spoke of her as the mother of Saul, with it being changed into Samuel by an editor afterwards.
At the beginning of the narrative incident regarding Hannah, she is said to be one of the two wives of Elkhanah. The other wife was called Peninnah. Peninnah gave birth to a son, but Hannah did not. Even after this, Elkhanah harboured a preference for Hannah, which might have been the reason for Peninnah's endless taunts about her not being able to give birth.
After praying to Eli for a child, she got pregnant and raised her child as a nazirite as she had promised Eli in exchange for a child.

The name Hannah in Hebrew is pronounced: Channah, khan-new' meaning
favored; an Israelite:--Hannah. Hannah is a derivative of properly, to bend or stoop in kindness to an inferior; ( I would say the other wife Peninnah) to favor, bestow; causatively to implore (i.e. move to favor by petition):--beseech, X fair, (be, find, shew) favour(-able), be (deal, give, grant (graciously), interest, (be) merciful, have (shew) mercy (on, upon), have pity upon, pray, make supplication, X very.
Hannah made her petition to God regarding her bitterness that had been directed either at Peninnah or her own barrenness. The Bible doesn't really say where her bitterness came from, but it does say 1Sa 1:10 And she was in bitterness of soul, and prayed unto the LORD, and wept sore.
She spoke from her heart to God and God answered Hannah's prayer and she gave birth to Samuel, who was an important Prophet in the Old Testament.

The meaning is 'grace' and it is the Hebrew version of the Latin name Anna, which means 'gracious.'

Hannah did not pray to Eli. Eli was a priest. Hannah prayed to God and Eli saw her praying and at first presumed that she was drunk. Read the story again. ! Samuel Chapter One.

The name Hannah pronounced Han-ah, is a popular name of Hebrew origin; it signifies graciousness and mercy. According to the Jewish scriptures, Channah prayed to the Lord for a son as she was barren and was blessed with a son Samuel who became Israel's most respected prophets. The name thus came to be associated with thanksgivings to the Lord for having favored one with a son. In Europe the name is highly popular in Germany and is believed to have originated from the Irish-Gaelic name Aine which means brilliance. The variants of Hannah are Ann, Annie, Hanna, Anna, Nan and Hanne.

He (God) has favoured me/favours me (i.e. With a child) It is of Hebrew derivation (Channah). The mother of the prophet Samuel had this name.
