Where Is Bollywood?

Bollywood is the popular name given to India's Hindi film industry that is located in former Bombay, present day Mumbai. Although some vehemently dispute the fact, it is believed that the name Bollywood was a combination of Bombay and Hollywood, America's bustling movie business. Bollywood put together with the South Indian cinema factory account for about nine five percent of the chunk of Indian cinema as a whole. This booming industry is said to be the largest in terms of the number of movies churned out and tickets sold.

The impact that Bollywood has had on popular culture is unimaginable. From local lingo to fashion and culture, it continues to influence its audiences, not only in India but also the Middle East, South East Asia and even parts of Africa.
