Where Is Nebraska And What Are Its Highlights?

    Nebraska is one of the States in the United States of America. It is in the central USA, where it borders North Dakota (to the north), Iowa (to the East), Kansas (to the south) and Colorado and Wyoming (to the west).

    It covers an area of 77 354 square miles and has Lincoln as its capital city. Other major cities include Omaha, Grand Island and North Platte. It has a population of about 1.7 million people.

    Nebraska is home to the Rocky Mountain foothills, parts of the Missouri river, the prairies, the Chimney Rock national historic site, the Courthouse and Jail Rocks, the Mission River, the Platte River and the Nebraska National Forest.

    The State was originally occupied by indigenous American Indians but it was exploited by French fur traders in the 1700s, given to Spain by France in 1763  and it became a US state in 1867.

    Famous people who were born in Nebraska include Fred Astaire, the great dancer in films of the 1930s and 1940s, Henry Fonda and Malcolm X.
