    Hydrogen is a chemical substance and its symbol is H. The atomic number and atomic mass of hydrogen is 1. There is only one proton present in the hydrogen atom. In a neutral hydrogen atom, number of electrons and number of protons are equal. Therefore, there is one electron present in hydrogen atom. Hydrogen is a nonmetal and a colorless gas. Hydrogen is present in the first group and first period of periodic table. Moreover, the valence electron of hydrogen fills in s orbital, so hydrogen is placed in s-block of periodic table.
