When Is The Best Time To Apply For A Job At A Summer Camp?

The majority of summer camps do the bulk of their hiring during March and April. It is, therefore, a good idea to submit your application in January or February, especially if you are applying for a more senior position, or one that provides a higher than average salary.

Many camps in North America will visit job fairs organized by universities and colleges during mid to late January in order to jump start their hiring process and get as many university students as possible to apply. Camps will usually conduct job interviews in March, for all those who applied before the end of February. It is fairly common for positions to be left over even after the interview process has been completed, or for successful applicants to turn down job offers. As a result, it may still be possible to apply for a job as late as April or even May. It should, however, be expected that most of these positions are for counsellors or junior counsellors, rather than for the more senior roles.
