Nucleus is basically a membrane enclosed organelle which is found in all the eukaryotic cells. All the genetic material which is organized as DNA molecules is present in the Nucleus. It is responsible for maintaining the integrity of the genes and control the activities of the cell by regulation of the gene expression.

A typical Nucleus consists of the following parts:

    - Nuclear Envelope: Which is a double membrane enclosing the nucleus.

    - Nuclear Lamina: Meshwork present in the nucleus for mechanical support.

    - Nuclear Pores: Allow movement of molecules across the envelope.

    - Chromosomes

    - Nucleolus

    - Subnuclear bodies like:

    Cajal bodies and gems
    PlKA and PTF domains
    PML bodies
    Paraspeckies
    Splicing Speckles
