What Are Wind Instruments?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

A wind instrument is a part of the family of musical instruments. Wind instruments are musical instruments wherein the sound is produced by the enclosed column of air that is moved because of the breath of the person playing it.

The working of the wind instruments is such that the tube containing the column of air is set into vibration by the blowing of the instrument player into or over the mouthpiece set into the end of the tube. The pitch is determined by the length of the tube, which in turn affects the length of the vibrating column of air.

The wind instruments are usually made of wood or brass, but have lately been made out of other materials as well. The most common wind instruments that are played in music shows etc. are the flute, the clarinet, the saxophone, and so on.
