Can Anyone Tell Me About The Gibson Splithead Explorers? How Many Were Made? What Are Their Differences? And Are They All Custom Shop?
Answers
The Gibson Split Headstock Explorer is a custom made guitar which was first developed around 1960s. The head of the guitar is split in a V shape hence the name the 'Split Headstock'. The Gibson Explorer is quite similar to the Gibson Flying V and it came much after that. The difference between Gibson Split headstock Explorer and other guitars is not only the look but also the feel and the sound of the guitar.
These guitars are very rare and are produced in minimum quantities. It is very difficult to find these guitars in music shops. In order to purchase this guitar, you need to contact the Gibson music store.
The guitars have been ever popular since its inception. Many other guitar companies such as ESP, Dean, Ibanez, Jackson and other such companies manufacture the Explorer guitars.
