Have you tried light sanding?  If the stain isn't too deep, this might work on unfinished furniture.  Another thing to try would be hair spray (yes, really-----it totally removes ballpoint pen ink from fabric, so it's worth a try on wood) and also some sort of acetone product, such as nail polish remover.  This would damage a finished surface but should be ok to try in your case.

There are also those "magic eraser" things that claim to remove anything from anything and they certainly do work on the things I've tried, so this might be worth a shot, too.

Light sanding is the method of choice.  If you are unable to do this, try mineral spirits.
