There is not a definitive answer to this question. The rough answer is about 115 but some of the elements listed in the periodic table of today are so rare that it is questionable whether some of them actually exist.
Some of the more recently discovered elements exist theoretically but they can only be made by carrying out nuclear reactions and adding neutrons to atomic nuclei of already very large and unstable elements.
Some of the elements have been made but exist only for a fraction of a second before being changed into another element.
This phenomena has been the dream of chemists and alchemists throughout history who have sought a method of changing a metal like tin or iron into gold. With today's technology, it IS possible - but it would cost far more than the value of the gold that could be produced, so there isn't any point in doing it.
