Who Is Leonard Cohen?

Leonard Norman Cohen is an author, a writer, a novelist, a singer, a songwriter and a poet of Canadian origin. He was born in the year 1934 in Montreal in Quebec. His first book was poetry and came out in the year 1956, his first novel about seven years later.

During the 1960's he accomplished himself as one of the most unique and talent songwriters of the time. His initial music style was largely folk music but since the 70's he began to explore new genres and showed traces of cabaret as well as pop music. The themes that were explored in his songs ranged from the very common ones of love, sex, emotions etc and the more uncommon ones of religion, isolation and philosophy. Cohen has become one of the most iconic singers of the last century. Most of his songs today have been made into covers by various bands.
