No, 'Tiger' is just a nickname given to Eldrick Woods who is considered to be one of the most successful golfers ever to play the game. He was born on December 30, 1975 in Cypress, California. He was nicknamed 'Tiger' after his father's friend Vuong Dang Phong. Soon, he was called by that name and then gained success and recognition as 'Tiger Woods'.

His father, Earl Woods was a Vietnam War veteran and was the lieutenant colonel of the U.S. Army when he retired. He died at the age of 74 after a lengthy battle with prostrate cancer. His mother Kultida is Earl's second wife and apart from Tiger being her son, she has 3 step children from Earl's earlier marriage.  

Woods started playing golf at a very young age of two. From the time he started his professional career, he was won over 12 major championships including the PGA and U.S. Open.
