Food presents are nearly always welcome, and if the recipient doesn't happen to like the gift, they will certainly know someone who does. The most extravagant food present is probably a hamper; these can range from enormous, extremely expensive luxury ones from Harrods, to a small one from a local supermarket which may only cost about £20. On the other hand, you could make your own hamper; get a picnic-type basket and a lot of jam, cheese, tinned meat and other edibles, plus a bottle of wine or so.
For smaller gifts, a really good cheese is popular; you might consider getting a waxed cheese that will keep longer. If you're a good cook, you could start a tradition of giving homemade mince pies or even a Christmas cake. Otherwise, there's nothing wrong with a nice box of chocolates or, if the person knows about it so they don't go and buy their own, a big basket of good quality fruit. It might be best to stay off the traditional dates and candied fruits unless you know your friends like them – a lot of people don't.

I make alot of baskets that I give at Christmas with goodies.............. Various type of cookies ( at least 6 types in each basket), chocolate dipped pretzels, toffee, peppermint bark, meat empanadas (recipe from Panama), banana bread, pumpkin bread, cranberry bread. This is a sampling of some of the things that would go into our gift baskets.

We usually send gifts or presents during Christmas to express our love and gratitude. Send your love ones a gift that is different from others. It could be spa gift vouchers for that person to enjoy her Christmas vacation in a very relaxing way.
