I was Batgirl two years ago, when I was thirteen, and when I was fourteen I was Hannah Montana. They let me walk in the Halloween parade both times, so I guess those were good costumes. You can just put different things together and make something, which is what I did for the H.M. Costume.

My 16 yr old daughter and I are going to dress up as a deranged family. She will wear something that a little girl would wear, and put her hair up in uneven pigtails. She will use make up to look like she was trying to put it on, but couldn't do it right, and make her mascara run down her cheeks. Also we will go to a thrift store and find a cheap doll. We will rip out some of the hair and poke one eye out, making it look really creepy. She has perfected a really creepy expression like she is totally insane and even a creepy giggle. She has scared herself at times with her giggle! She will stare at people , rocking her doll and in her scary voice say things like "do you want to play with me?" then giggle that awful creepy giggle.
I will do something similar, but more like a deranged mom. Cooking up a scary supper for all the trick or treaters to share with us!  We came up with this idea by watching the Travel Channel shows about the scariest Halloween Houses in the USA.   Have fun...

Since I don't know your age it's hard to make a suggestion.  However, my kids went as Lego blocks one year.  We just took large boxes, cut hole for head and arms, spray painted any color they wanted (they wore matching turtle neck sweaters...get's cold here in Northern MN) and took small pie tins painted the same color for the little knobby things on top.  They looked pretty cute.  I also made an M&M one year.
