Is It Unethical To Shave A Cat?
I have two calico's and they shed excessively. During the summer I prefer to have the windows open and the fresh air blowing in. To keep the girls comfortable, (and my house a little cleaner) I've thought of shaving their coats. How do most people respond to this?

The answer to your question would depend upon the intentions behind shaving your cat. If you intend to help your cats' well being and you have no reason to believe that shaving their hair will cause them harm then it would be ethical to shave them. However, If you are aware that shaving a cat may be unhealthy for the animal (as some people suggest) and you do not care about the risks, then your ethics may be at question. Personally, I had a long haired Persian and I would shave him. He always enjoyed being shaven and I never noticed any problems with his health as a result. I hope this helps.
