How To Forget Someone?

Answer Question

5 Answers - Sort by: Date | Rating

You just have to take a chance. Try to find someone that will really appreciate you. If she left you, it is because she doesn't know what she had. Give someone else a chance. In order to find your true love, you have to go through pain.

It's okay to be scared, but in order to get over things you have to take the first step. Because people can only do so much. But only you can help yourself.

You put some very clear restrictions on how we can respond.  I will do my best to respect that request, but because I genuinely care, that means I may have to say things you don't want to hear.  I will suggest what really works, but let me say a few introductory things first, if you will.

I don't want to spew cliches at you, but time will help you forget the pain.  There is not a magical salve that will make you forget about her.  I noticed that you said you couldn't think of negative things about her.  Well, I would hope that you wouldn't try to in any case.  This method can lead to self-deception (which we as humans are all so good at) and further unhappiness.

From the Bible, you may or may not be familiar with the story of Job.  He did nothing wrong, but lost his children and all this wealth in one day.  Even though he had stronger faith than most people will ever have, he felt pain.  Pain is natural.  It must be borne and endured.

      Now...Here's what works:

Putting your love and trust in Jesus Christ.  Will He make all pain and troubles in your life disappear?  No, nor does He promise to do so.  Here's what He does promise:  To give you all the strength you could ever need to face any problem that comes in life.  He promises to give you wisdom when you ask.  He promises to save you from an eternity separated from Him, a spiritual death.

All that He requires from you is to believe in Him, to believe that He, who is God, came to earth to live among us, then He died the death that we were supposed to.  He experienced true separation from God when he was crucified on the cross.  Because of sin in this world, the Bible says that we deserve an eternity of life without Him--a very real hell.  But because He loves us, He died that death for us.  And three days later, he rose again, just as He said he would.  All He asks of you is to believe that.

People can have one of three reactions to Jesus, as C.S. Lewis said.  He is either liar, lunatic, or Lord.  Why?  I'll explain.

People say that Jesus was just a good teacher.  Well, these same people forget that Jesus said plainly that He is God.  If He was not telling the truth about that, that makes Him liar, and, thus, NOT a good teacher.

If Jesus wasn't a liar, but still not truthful when He said plainly that He is God--the very Son of the Father--and believing His own words, that makes Him a lunatic.

The third option is that Jesus was telling the truth, and that He really is God, that He really is part of the Holy Trinity (Father, Son, and Holy Spirit: Three persons in One) and He really did come to earth to save us from a fate worse than physical death.  If that is true, that makes Him Lord, just as He said He was.

Do you want strength to deal with pain and trouble and hurt?  Do you want a bright hope for tomorrow?  What do you have to lose by believing in Christ?  Believing in Him costs you nothing, yet you gain EVERYTHING.  The choice is yours.  I'll be praying for you and your former girlfriend.

If you do choose Christ--and even if You don't--I would like to suggest finding a good, solid, Bible-believing and teaching church.  There you will receive good instruction on who God is and His love for you.

Look for someone else. If you distract yourself you wont have to worry about thinking about her. Just don't give your-self the time to think about her.
