This dish is famous dish of Hawaii. The ingredients for Shoyu Chicken are as follows:
150 gm sugar
Shoyu Sauce (also a type of soy sauce that is extracted from soy beans)
2 kg chicken
250 gm soy sauce
1 tbs honey
150 gm chicken soup
1 tsp hoisin sauce (this is also known as Chinese barbecue sauce)
2 star anise (that is a part of spicy Chinese powder)
Method
In a steamer boil water and give steam to chicken around 30 minutes. Then take a frying pan combine sugar, soy sauce, shoyu sauce, honey, star anise, chicken soup and hoisin sauce to make sauce and mix it well after mixing boil the sauce for 10 minutes. Put the steamed chicken in the prepared sauce and then again boil chicken for more 5 minutes. Change the position of chicken i.e. turns its side until chicken is coated well in sauce. Cut steamed chicken into pieces and set it on a platter. For garnishing of chicken with Chinese parsley and green onions cut them in fine thin pieces and put them around the chicken. Shoyu chicken is ready to serve and serve it hot these ingredients are sufficient for preparing 6 servings.

Shoyu Chicken
1. 1 cup soy sauce
2. 1 cup sugar
3. 2 cups water
4. 4 cloves of garlic (cut lengthwise)
5. 6 slices of fresh ginger (1/4" inch thick)
6. Chicken (as much as you want and whatever parts you like)
7. 1 lb. Fresh Sliced mushrooms (canned may be substituted)
8. 3 – 4 bundles of Sai Fun noodles (thin bean threads)
9. 2 boxes of extra firm tofu (cut into ½ inch cubes) (optional)
10. 1 can of bamboo shoots (optional)
11. 2 tablespoons cooking oil.
12. Drinking Sherry(Do not use cooking Sherry)
Directions
1.) Mix items 1 thru 5 throughly in a large glass or plastic bowl
2.) Place chicken in mixture and let marinate for 1 to 2 hours
3.) Put 2 tablespoons of oil in a Dutch oven and heat
4.) Put in a little bit of garlic for flavoring (when the garlic turns brown, take it out and throw it away)
5.) Place pieces of chicken into Dutch oven and lightly brown on both sides. (Do not throw away the marinade)
6.) When all of the chicken has been lightly cooked, throw away the oil in the Dutch oven and place the chicken back into the pot.
7.) Add the marinade back into the pot 1 cup at a time. For each cup of marinade, also add 1 cup of sherry and keep adding until you run out of marinade or you run out of room in the pot.
8.) Simmer over low heatl until the chicken is done
9.) When the chicken is done, add in the mushrooms, tofu, and bamboo shoots and let simmer while you do the next step.
10.) Take the sai fun noodles and soak them for about 15 minutes in a bowl of luke- warm water. After soaking them, take them out of the water and place them into the pot. Cook for another 15 minutes and your dish is done.
11.) Serve this dish over hot rice.
