    Banjo is basically a kind of stringed instrument. It was developed in the United States by the Africans who were brought as slaves. It was actually their adaptation of various African instruments.

    The African slaves who lived in South America and Appalachia made this instrument on the basis of their African musical instruments. Akonting, which is a spike folk lute is considered as the ancestor of Banjo.
