Who Is Colin Pitchfork?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

Colin Pitchfork is a murder, currently serving life for the rape and murder of two young school girls in the sleepy Narborough/Enderby area of Leicestershire.

Pitchfork, a baker from neighbouring Littlethorpe (originally from Bristol, England) left the surrounding villages living in fear for the three years between his first murder (the victim was Lynda Mann) and his second (the victim was Dawn Ashworth).

After the second murder, a huge local manhunt took place with a massive DNA testing staged across the area, with all men between certain ages being asked to voluntarily give DNA samples.  This was the first time in history that DNA fingerprinting was used to catch a criminal.

Pitchfork was finally caught after  a man was overheard bragging to a colleague that he had helped his friend evade the DNA test by pretending to be Pitchfork.  Pitchfork was questioned and arrested and confronted with the DNA evidence.  He made a full confession.
