    Regardless of your credit history, most major High Street lenders will reject an applicant who has a negative credit check score. Because of the sharing of information within the credit industry, the chances of getting a respectable credit check score with any type of recent credit problems are slim.

    Thankfully the High Street is not the only option for credit. Many companies have emerged that are prepared to give bad credit risks a break. This new breed of online loan provider seeks to arrive at a financially manageable loan based on the equity of property as security.

    And what's more, if borrowers are subsequently able to demonstrate a reliable payment record in the early phases of the loan term, most lenders will relax and offer a lower rate secured loan.

    The amount that can be borrowed varies as does the repayment period. Monthly payments and the interest rate imposed depend on a number of factors, including:
    * credit history
    * collateral (usually your home)
    * your capacity to pay and employment history
    * loan size
    * and the repayment period.
