    The list is endless but here are just a few: Tomatoes, olives, garlic and wheat.  No spaghetti bolognaise would be complete without lashings of olive oil, copious amounts of garlic and the colour and richness of the sun ripened tomatoes. Another part of the staple diet is corn/maize or 'polenta', it used to be a peasant dish, not nowadays!

      Don't forget the grapes, can't have wine without them.
