    Le Monde is the newspaper for Paris, France. Le Monde in English means 'The World'.  It is a daily newspaper which is distributed in the evening. In the year 2004 alone it had sold around 372, 800 copies. It is a much respected newspaper. It is considered as a newspaper that meets the high standards of journalism in France. Le Monde is the only newspaper that is very easily available in the non-Francophone countries.

    The founder of Le Monde was 'Hubert Beuve-Mery'. The newspaper was actually started on request by general 'Charles De Gaulle'. It was founded in the year 1944. The headquarters of the firm is based in Paris itself.

    Le Monde also has a 51% stake in the ownership of the Le Monde Diplomatique.
