    The term "it's raining cats and dog" originated when there is heavy rainfall, it creates a hassle which leads to the same kind when the cats and dogs fight.

    not sure about this - I heard it relates back to the days when roads & paths had inadequate drainage systems and when it rained very heavily, you would see cats or dogs that had drowned in the flood waters!!

    England 1500s
    Houses had thatched roofs. Thick straw, piled high, with no wood underneath. It was
    the only place for animals to get warm, so all the pets... dogs, cats and other small animals, mice, rats, bugs lived in the roof. When it rained it became slippery and sometimes the animals would slip and fall off the roof. Hence the saying, "It’s raining cats and dogs,"
