It takes a lot of will power to abstain from shopping excessively, when you have a credit card. But Credit card is the best financial product, if used properly. Its misuse can get you stuck in a vicious circle of debt. Here are three basic rules that will help you in properly using your credit card:
    - Don't buy something from your credit card that you cannot buy with cash.
    - Pay your entire credit card bill every month, don't pile up payments, as late payments accrue charges.
    - Put all your monthly spending budget in your credit card, if you don't have a savings account, which will earn you interest up to 5% on the money.

I have several rules for myself when using a credit card.  I never use one if I have the cash with me.  I never use one if I don't have the cash in the bank at that very moment.  I always pay the entire balance by the due date (I never pay interest or late charges).  If I can't stick to my rules, I don't make the purchase.  I wait until I can.  Emergencies do occur, but I have a savings account.

When things are bad, avoid putting anything beyond authentic emergency expenses on credit cards.  Pay off as much as you can as soon as you can.  Be strong.

Imagine needing emergency room care or on-road repairs or a hotel room if delayed away from home.  There are places that will take a "good" credit card that won't take a personal check.

Imagine you're ill and stay home instead of going out.  Put what you don't spend into payments on the credit card(s).

Credit card (CC) can become a huge burden or a luxury depending upon our proper usage of it. Paying immediately after making transaction from CC, is good, but piling on the dues is a burden

I suggest that you stop putting additional purchases on your credit card -- now!

Stop using all your credit cards for a given period of time -- 30 or 60 days for example,  also limiting your cash purchases during this time.  In other words, DON'T buy anything you don't absolutely need!

Put your savings from not buying anything into the existing  payments on your credit card and you will be able to start whittling that amount due rapidly.

Good luck and let us know how it goes.

Don't use your credit card to buy anything plus only buy things you absolutely need with your debit card until you pay off the credit cards.

If you do not currently have a budget plan start one now. Keep track of all your purchases both on credit card and in cash. Ask your bank for an extra savings withdraw book to store your credit card purchases on.The more information you have on where your money is going the better.
Once you have a list of where your money is going you can figure out where you can reduce your spending. Even the little things add up ( if you buy a candy bar from a vending machine $.75 everyday it equals $22.50 per month). There are a lot of great sites out there dedicated to frugality and savings that could help you find ways to reduce your spending and find the weak points in your budget.

Okay here i have got you an perfect answer...if you want to avoid the finance charges... Please stop using your credit card...a week before statement generation date...because some charges that you make before statement generation date.. May get post late in to your account..if its gonna get post in next billing cycle...finance charges may accrue..so all you have to do is...make purchase and pay it immediately. So you can avoid finance charges also you can get an good credit score..most important thing to note it is never take an cash using your credit card...its very risky..because for cash advances finance charges are assessed on daily basis..so your balance may go high without your knowledge..also read the terms and conditions clearly about the finance charges and about maintenance charges that are mentioned..that's how you can properly use the credit card..

I would cut it in half and put it in file 13! Then use your BANK DEBIT CARD ONLY!
The US just prints more money and the value of the US Dollar keeps going down!
You print more money, and you go to jail!
